1. Introduction

My Journey Books is the author and publishing website of Dr Mehdi Soodi.

In this Privacy Policy, “My Journey Books”, “we”, “us” and “our” refer to the operator of the My Journey Books website.

We are committed to handling personal information responsibly, securely and transparently, consistently with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles where they apply.

This Privacy Policy applies to personal information collected through the My Journey Books website, including its contact forms and related communications.

Separate privacy policies may apply when you engage Ahura Lawyers, Falcon Immigration & Visa Services, Dr Mehdi Soodi’s NAATI translation service, an online retailer or another third-party service provider.

2. What is personal information?

Depending on how you interact with us, the personal information we collect may include:

We do not ordinarily require sensitive information through the general website contact form.

Sensitive information may include information about a person’s health, racial or ethnic origin, religious beliefs, political opinions, professional or trade association membership, criminal record, sexual orientation or biometric information.

Please do not submit sensitive, confidential, privileged or time-critical legal information through the general contact form unless it is reasonably necessary for your enquiry.

If we receive unsolicited sensitive information that is not reasonably necessary for our activities, we may delete or de-identify it where lawful and appropriate.

Where practicable, you may contact us without identifying yourself. However, we may be unable to respond to or properly manage an enquiry without sufficient contact information.

  • managing book orders, bulk orders and institutional orders;

My Journey Books is an author and publishing website. It is not itself a substitute for formally engaging a legal, migration or translation service.

If your enquiry concerns legal services, Australian immigration, visa matters or document translation, we may advise you to contact, or may refer the enquiry to:

Where appropriate, the relevant practice may contact you separately and provide its own privacy information, engagement terms, costs disclosure or service agreement.

Submitting information through the My Journey Books website does not create a solicitor–client relationship and does not mean that any person or practice has agreed to act for you.

7. Direct marketing

We may send you information about new books, publication dates, events, speaking appearances or related activities where:

  • you have expressly consented;
  • consent may reasonably be inferred in the circumstances; or
  • the communication is otherwise permitted by law.

Ordinary contact-form enquiries will not automatically be treated as consent to receive marketing communications.

You may unsubscribe at any time by using the unsubscribe facility in the relevant communication or by contacting us.

We will take reasonable steps to action an unsubscribe request promptly.

We will aim to acknowledge your complaint within seven business days and respond substantively within 30 days, where reasonably practicable.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you may be entitled to contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.

We may amend this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to:
